Simulation first, then supervised patient care
You get the same core didactic teaching as every other option in this specialty, combined with hands-on training in our simulation facilities and three supervised clinical days a week.

The programme delivers didactic teaching aligned with the relevant GDC Specialty Curriculum, supporting practitioners to strengthen their clinical decision-making, practical and clinical skills and research.
Three supervised clinical days every week
Three days a week of supervised clinical training, for three years, treating patients under expert supervision at the CoMD clinic in Birmingham. This is the most clinical route the College runs.
Teaching blocks and online sessions around the clinic
Up to two face-to-face teaching blocks a year and weekly online sessions sit alongside the clinical days, so the theory tracks what you are treating.
Full GDC registration from the start
For the September 2026 intake, applicants must already hold full registration with the GDC. Clinical training is available only to students who already hold permanent GDC registration. The College is unable to offer or facilitate temporary GDC registration.
The half of specialist practice that isn't handpiece work
Case selection, treatment planning, record keeping and critical appraisal are taught alongside the clinical skills, because they are what separates a confident endodontist from a fast one.

No. This is the three-year, full-time clinical programme, built around supervised patient treatment three days a week. The College runs other endodontics routes with less or no supervised clinical training.
Will this make me a specialist?
The programme delivers didactic teaching aligned with the relevant GDC Specialty Curriculum, supporting practitioners to strengthen their clinical decision-making, practical and clinical skills and research. It does not confer specialist status and the College makes no specialist-recognition claim for this programme.
I'm not GDC registered. Can I still apply?
