Weekly online sessions plus up to two teaching weeks a year at the College in Birmingham, with practical work carried out on simulation rather than on patients. £11,000 a year without clinics, or £14,500 a year with one day of supervised clinical training a month. The teaching
Didactic teaching with hands-on simulation
All four programme options share the same core didactic teaching, combining theoretical learning with hands-on training in our simulation facilities. What changes is the format, the duration and how much supervised clinical training is included — on this route, none, unless you take the with-clinic option.
Aligned to the GDC Specialty Curriculum
The programme delivers didactic teaching aligned with the relevant GDC Specialty Curriculum, supporting practitioners to strengthen their clinical decision-making, practical and clinical skills and research.
Taught around a working week
Core theory is delivered through weekly online sessions and the programme is designed for clinicians who stay in practice throughout the three years.
A techniques block each year
Up to two teaching weeks a year at the Birmingham campus, working through techniques in the Phantom Head Suite and the College's simulation facilities.
From routine cases to referrals and retreatments
The syllabus works up from routine endodontics to the referral-level cases and retreatments that usually leave the practice.
A separate with-clinic option
The College also runs MSc in Endodontics (with clinic) at £14,500 a year, adding one day of supervised clinical training a month at the CoMD clinic in Birmingham. Clinical training is available only to students who already hold permanent GDC registration. The College is unable to offer or facilitate temporary GDC registration.

Can I keep working full time while I study?
Yes. Theory is delivered online and the hands-on teaching is concentrated into up to two campus weeks a year, so you stay in practice throughout.
Does this make me a specialist in endodontics?
The programme delivers didactic teaching aligned with the relevant GDC Specialty Curriculum, supporting practitioners to strengthen their clinical decision-making, practical and clinical skills and research. It does not confer specialist status, and the College makes no claim that it provides the volume of supervised clinical experience required for specialist recognition in the UK.
Will I be treating patients on the course?
Not on this option — practical work is done on simulation under faculty supervision. The College runs a separate with-clinic option at £14,500 a year which adds one day of supervised clinical training a month at the CoMD clinic in Birmingham. Clinical training is available only to students who already hold permanent GDC registration. The College is unable to offer or facilitate temporary GDC registration.
What do I need in order to apply?
A BDS or equivalent from a recognised institution, registration in good standing with a recognised dental regulatory body such as the GDC, evidence of English language proficiency (IELTS 7 with no component below 6, and two satisfactory references including one academic.
What does the fee actually cover?
£11,000 a year without clinics, or £14,500 a year with clinics. It covers the taught programme and the simulation teaching. Travel to the Birmingham teaching weeks is not included.
